Katie is an Administrative Assistant in our San Francisco office. In her role, she supports the FoodMinds co-founder and executive vice president, while helping on all client accounts and internal teams, as well as managing day to day activities for all of our FoodMinds offices.
How would you describe your role in one sentence?
I like to think of my job as “setting the team up for success.” I try to handle all those logistical things and keep track of all the behind the scenes details so that the account staff can focus on their clients.
What is you favorite part of your job?
I know I’m a weirdo, but I love managing event logistics! Hotel room blocks, working with venues, caterers, etc. One thing I like is that it’s so easy to see results and check off the box, once the event is done, it’s done, and you know what you’ve accomplished.
Although, organizing a happy hour or birthday treats for the office isn’t a terrible way to spend a work day!
What food is always on your mind and why?
Coffee and good dark chocolate are two things I really can’t live without. But add a fresh loaf of San Francisco sourdough bread with a really great cheese, and all is right with the world.
What’s the best piece of life advice you’ve received?
Basically everything Audre Lorde ever wrote, but if I have to choose one:
“When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.” – Audre Lorde
One thing people are surprised to learn about me is:
That I used to work on nuclear weapons and military policy for an NGO. There are too many nuclear weapons facts and acronyms taking up space in my brain.
