Moira is an account executive and registered dietitian. In her current role, Moira is involved in integrating communications strategies, translating scientific research, media relations and staying up-to-date with the latest nutrition news. Moira earned her bachelor’s degree in food science and human nutrition with a concentration in dietetics at the University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign. She completed both her MBA and dietetic internship at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Outside of the office, Moira can be found cooking (and taking pictures of her food) or planning her next trip abroad.
What is the most surprising thing for people to learn about being an RD?
Sometimes we lie or are vague about our what we do so we don’t get sucked in to the “what should I eat to be healthy?” talk.
What career would you choose if you had an opportunity to switch jobs for one day?
I’d love to be a food stylist/travel blogger for a day. Is that extremely basic of me?
What’s the best piece of life advice you’ve received?
My grandma told me, when given the opportunity, always take the coastal road and always sit at the bar. You never know what you’re going to find or who you’re going to meet!
How do you find balance?
Sometimes it’s hard, but if I know I need to work after hours (it happens!), I’ll take a solid break for dinner and a workout without screens. It really helps clear the mind.
