FoodNavigator-USA Launches FOOD FOR KIDS Nutrition Summit

FoodMinds Sponsors Inaugural Event Aimed at Exploring Solutions
for Improving Nutrition from Expectant Moms and Babies to Kids and Teens

CHICAGO (Nov. 5, 2018) – Despite the range of healthy options available in today’s marketplace, many kids lack access to fresh, nutritious food, and fall short of receiving the benefits of essential nutrients.  The FoodNavigator-USA FOOD FOR KIDS Summit – held in Chicago’s W Hotel Nov 12-14 – is bringing together parents, food entrepreneurs, nutritionists, scientists, market researchers, leading food and beverage brands and manufacturers, among others to learn more about what children are actually eating, and how stakeholders can work together to develop and market healthier products that kids will enjoy.

“Parents are demanding healthier options for their families and FoodMinds is proud to be a sponsor of the FOOD FOR KIDS Nutrition Summit to help bring more knowledge to the field of children’s health and nutrition,” said Erin DeSimone, senior vice president and group lead for FoodMinds, the food and nutrition consultancy of Padilla.

The Summit will open with a lively parents’ panel exploring the day-to-day challenges around cooking and shopping for kids, and then take a deep dive into the market, the marketing, the branding, the nutrition science and the politics surrounding what and how we feed our kids. Further sessions will explore how companies and quick service restaurants are finding ways to develop healthier foods that are budget-friendly and evolve nutrition standards – while also appealing to kids’ taste buds.

Speakers and panelists will delve into the latest brand innovations targeting every life stage, including the new wave of high-pressure processed baby food, Paleo meat snacks, low-and-zero sugar beverages, clean label trends and new direct-to-consumer distribution models.

“At FOOD FOR KIDS, we want retailers, packaged food brands and the food service industry to learn from the experts in the room, but also to take an active role in shaping the conversation,” said Elaine Watson, FoodNavigator-USA editor and Summit chair. “We hope that our Summit challenges how stakeholders think about formulation, packaging, business models and go-to-market strategies, and that they will inspire new opportunities for sustainable growth and profitability.”
